About the Author
Neil Bingham is a historian of architecture and design. He is curator of contemporary architectural collections at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and was previously architectural drawings curator at the Royal Academy of Arts, London, and the Royal Institute of British Architecture. His numerous published works include Masterworks: Architecture at the Royal Academy of Arts (2011), Fantasy Architecture, 1500–2036 (2004) and Modern Retro: Living with Mid-Century Style (2000).

A Treasure Chest!

This is an amazing collection of architectural drawings--from the most meticulously detailed perspectives to abstract notions for structures, and in just about every imaginable medium. The variety is incredible and should appeal to anyone with any sort of interest in graphic arts, whether or not you are passionate about architecture per se. It's a book of wonderful art works. Some of the ideas were realized as actual structures, and some not. Besides being moved by the art works, it's fascinating to read the descriptions and learn the intentions behind each architect's plan. I recommend it without reservation.

Good, but......

I have enjoyed the book. It contains drawings of buildings and structures I would never have known about otherwise. Many of these drawings have considerable artistic merit. My only mild complaint is that the book whet my appetite, regarding a number of the drawings, for a lot more information about the architect/artist and the structures depicted (and more information about why many of them were never built). In other words, I wish there had been additional text and greater detail.

Excellent Collection of Drawings

The book is a must for any architect or designer. It is a wonderful collection of drawings, sketches, renderings, etc. Mr. Bingham adds just enough information and background to each photo to educate the reader. Well done!
